How to launch your site? Hosting and domain
So, you have already chosen the method by which your Internet resource will be created, and suppose that your site is already ready to become seen by all Internet users.
Now a new challenge is on the way. How to make a site accessible to all users of the global Internet? Of course, of the three stages into which I divided the procedure for launching my site on the Internet, the least can be said about its implementation.
And if a team of professionals or a freelancer is engaged in the development of your site, you can very well count on the fact that they will be involved in the implementation issue. However, in any case, it will be useful for you to know the general scheme, the action plan that needs to be completed so that anyone can see your portal at a specific address on the Internet.
To begin with, I propose to decide on concepts. There are two basic terms that you need to know. Hosting is a service for placing files of your site on a specialized computer, server. Domain – the address or simply the name of your site. Examples of domains: google.ru, mail.ru, shkolazhizni.ru and so on.
Now about everything in more detail. Let’s start with hosting. This service is now provided by many companies, and sometimes just individuals. The difference here is in price and quality of service. The methods themselves are about the same.
So that your site can be accessed by users, so that they can do this often, often and quickly get an answer, you need a very powerful computer that will process all their requests. This powerful computer must be equipped with special software that allows it to process the program code of the pages of your site, users’ requests to it, and much more.
In addition, a special user control panel should be installed on such a computer and a billing system for payment should be implemented. And finally, there should be high speed internet access. Such a computer is called a server. This server is located in a special guarded place – a data center.
This data center is not required to be anywhere near you. He can be anywhere. So, for example, data centers located in Germany are very popular. In fact, the important thing here is not location, but equipment and modernity, on which the speed of your site will depend.
The issue of choosing a hosting company should be taken very seriously. Hosting services can be provided by both the company-owners of the servers and just individuals (resellers) who rent either the servers themselves or part of their disk space.
A very important role is played by the hosting support service. It is worth paying special attention to, as you will certainly have a lot of questions, and you just need support to be provided around the clock, efficiently and quickly. In this regard, as a rule, it is recommended to give preference to large companies that own their own servers, rather than individuals and companies renting these servers.
After you pay for hosting services, put your website and database on the server, you just have to buy an address for your website and compare it with the addresses of your hosting servers. Registering a domain is not at all difficult. To do this, you need to come up with a site name, check its availability (since the name may already be taken by someone else), if everything is fine, go through the registration procedure and pay for the domain. The registration service is provided by many companies, and very often it can be done at the same one that provides you with hosting services.
The last task that you may have to overcome is matching the domain address to the addresses of your hosting servers. I say “possible”, since this will only have to be done if you bought domain and hosting services from different sellers. As a rule, if both services were bought from the same seller, you no longer need to make any settings.
To map a domain, you just need to register in the domain’s control panel, in its settings, the IP addresses of DNS servers that your hosting provider will send you to the email address that you specified during registration. After all the points are completed, any Internet user will be able to see your resource by simply entering its address in the browser bar!
