CHKDSK blue disk check drive on Windows startup

Sometimes it happens that after the boot screen of the Windows operating system, the blue CHKDSK screen pops up with percent calculations instead of the usual desktop boot.
What is this screen reporting about? It tells the user that one or more partitions of the computer’s hard drive is possibly damaged, or the file system is damaged. Next, the verification of volumes for suitability for further work begins. The scan time depends on the size of the partitions being checked and on the processor clock speed, as well as the amount of RAM. Naturally, you can skip this verification screen, and we are informed about this before the start of scanning and verification, but this is not recommended because sections can really be damaged and this can interfere with your further work on a personal computer. As a rule, after such a complete single check in the future, this blue screen will not bother you, but it also happens that it appears constantly when the OS boots. Then he really begins to cause inconvenience. How to solve this problem I will describe further.

Why does this screen for checking hard disks appear at all when the operating system boots up, after all, this has not happened before?

The thing is the incorrect shutdown of the last session in the Windows operating system. Those. most likely the computer was turned off incorrectly. This can be a sudden power outage (if you do not use an uninterruptible power supply), pulling out the power plug from the outlet, overheating of the PC and a sudden disconnection, or maybe something else. In any case, shut down the PC and OS properly. The file system also plays an important role here. It is generally recommended to use NTFS. FAT32 is obsolete and more susceptible to failures because it is not journaled.

So after such an incorrect shutdown, Windows installs the so-called “dirty bit” symbolizing that the section probably contains a failure. Well, if the problem does not go away – it means most likely something after or during the OS startup forces it to nevertheless set this dirty bit, and because of this, the autochk.exe service (starting at Windows startup – this is in the registry key ” HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession Manager “in the” BootExecute “parameter) will still check this volume. Is this bit set to be checked by the command: fsutil dirty query Drive:

Solution methods (from simple to more complex and effective) after each step, check if the problem is resolved:

Just wait until this check passes to the end.
Check all volumes using standard Windows tools. Open my computer -> select a partition (local disk) -> right mouse button -> properties -> service tab -> disk check – perform a check -> check all two checkboxes (automatically fix system errors, check and repair bad sectors) -> launch.
Or you can scan and “heal” the HDD using special programs such as Viktoria, HDD tegenerator …
Perform a full partition check using the command shkdsk Drive: / f where Drive is the letter of the partition being checked. Start -> run -> type cmd -> ok -> on the command line write chkdsk Drive: / f -> Enter
This will remove the “dirty bit” installed by the system, indicating a failure in the section.
Check autochk.exe using the fsutil dirty query Drive command: where Drive is the letter of the partition being checked. Start -> run -> type cmd -> ok -> on the command line write fsutil dirty query Drive: -> Enter
The system will say whether this section is marked as dirty or not.
Force disabling partition checking (even if they are marked as dirty) with the chkntfs / x Drive command: where Drive is the letter of the partition being checked. Start -> run -> type cmd -> ok -> on the command line write chkntfs / x Drive: -> Enter
If this check is not disabled from the command line, then turn it off directly through the registry editor. . Start -> run -> type regedit -> ok -> the Windows registry editor will open. Next, go to the following address: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlSession Manager For the BootExecute value, erase all contents.
Format the “dirty” according to the OS sections of the hard drive.
For further actions, additional software is required.

Change the file system on dirty partitions.
Redo all sections again.
Reinstall the operating system.
After the above algorithms, the problem should be solved and the blue screen when loading Windows will not bother you anymore.
